What is your name and company?
Leslee Fontenette – Living Well With Leslee
Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in Kingwood?
I’m originally from Leakey, a small town about 90 miles West of San Antonio in the Hill Country. My family and I have been in Kingwood for 5 years now.
Child(ren) and Age(s)?
We have one little girl who is a year and a half.
One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
People are always surprised to know that I still enjoy wine and pizza from time to time. They think just because I’m a Health Coach that I’m always on a really strict diet and expect them to be, too.
What is your go-to activity for yourself for pampering or for fun?
I love to try smoothies from different places around town. My favorite right now is Power Up from Coco Crepes!
Funniest shortcut/routine for helping you through parenthood?
I go on a walk every single day with my daughter to make sure I have a moment to take a call, listen to an audiobook, or just collect my thoughts. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have a few Cheeto Puffs on deck for the days she’d rather be the one pushing the stroller!
Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!
I am a Health and Wellness Coach, helping people lose weight and gain energy without a crazy diet. Since most “diets” are based off deprivation and quick fixes, I show clients how to make small habit changes to get real and lasting results. There’s nothing better than hearing a client say, “I know why you do this now” after our time together.
How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
When we first moved here we joined U-Turn Crossfit, although I was completely new and intimidated, the local community there fully supported me and made me feel welcome to this area. It was the people there who also supported me when I decided that I wanted to transition from teaching elementary to health coaching.
I knew that at the end of the day the parents were the biggest influence on their kiddos and I wanted to make sure parents were taking care of themselves and leading by example. I was introduced to people I would have never met on my own and have learned so much from fellow business owners and just overall great people.
What is the best advice for juggling mommyhood and running a business (or volunteering, working, etc)?
The best advice I could give anyone who is juggling all of the things, would be to make a list of 3-5 high yielding task to complete everyday that will get you closer to your goals. These small tasks might not seem like much, but when done everyday they will keep you on track and progressing.
What would you tell the old “You” before you had kids?
Life isn’t over once you have kids. I just KNEW I wouldn’t be able to have the energy to do anything once I had a little one around. Yes, it can be a mad house.. but embracing the challenge can be invigorating.
What is your proudest mommy moment?
Becoming a mom.. close second would be teaching my daughter how to do burpees, haha!
Greatest gift about being a mom?
Having a sweet sidekick to snuggle and explore with.
Best mom hack that makes momming easier?
Eyelash extensions. I never feel like I need to wake up earlier to do my makeup or worry about mascara running down my face from sweating so much.
What’s your favorite part about what you do?
I absolutely love being able to celebrate other people’s wins. We get so used to only thinking about the stuff we didn’t get done or the things that went wrong, we lose sight of the wonderful wins. I get all teary-eyed when people find their balance.
What is your favorite thing to do in the HKA area?
Hands down- Running, walking, and biking the greenbelts!
